Blue
From the melancholia of having the blues to the blue richness of lapis lazuli and the syncopated rhythm of playing the blues to the depths of a deep blue sea or the infinite possibility of a clear blue morning, blue embodies a breadth of significations.
The works presented here deploy blue not simply as a color or subject, but as a lens. In each instance, a degree of surrealism takes hold, as the artists explore notions of spirituality and sentimentality in imagining what has been and what could be.
